Hitchcock Police Department

Patrol Division

Patrol Officers are the first elements of intervention in most Law Enforcement activities. They respond to all calls for service and are responsible for original offense reports and field investigations. Patrol Officers are also expected to enforce the laws of the State of Texas and Municipal ordinances. The division also answers requests for service from citizens such as checking out suspicious activity or responding when life, health, or property is threatened. The patrol division has two School Resource Officers within the division as well, whose primary function is to provide a safe environment for our students. Patrol is the most visible part of the Police Department and has the most contact with the citizens. Although issuing tickets and filing charges is part of their job, they also assist when a child is missing or someone is injured in an automobile accident. The Patrol Division exists to serve and protect and its members take pride in the fact that the City of Hitchcock has a well-trained and professional Police Department.

Patrol Command Staff:

Captain. John Jenkins - Day Watch Command

Sgt. Tyler White - Evening Watch Command

Sgt. Chris Garcia - Relief Command

Sgt. Michael Allen - Support Operations

Patrol Districts

The city is divided into Patrol districts and Officers are routinely assigned to a specific district on a regular and continuing basis. In this way a Patrol Officer becomes familiar with the residents, business owners and surroundings of the assigned district. Permanent district assignment is one of the cornerstones of Community Oriented Policing and the Hitchcock Police Department subscribes to this innovative concept of public service.

Operation Periodic Checks

The Hitchcock Police Department has responded to a specific community need with the implementation of Operation Periodic Checks. Citizens of Hitchcock who will be out of town may complete an application. This form serves as a request that a Patrol Officer check their residence regularly during their absence. There are specific details included by the requesting party which outline who to contact in case of emergency, who may have permission to be on the premises, even which lights were left on.
